Late 17th & Early 18th centuries

Youth's suit from 1700 in the V&A.
This is a suit in the V&A museum, made from brown shot silk taffeta, which is less smooth as the finest taffeta, this one here shows some small slubs. The waistcoat is elaborately brocaded. Those fabrics were woven to shape, or, in case of embroidery, embroidered before assembly.
Suit from c. 1700, but the cuffs on the sleeves have been radically altered at a later date to suit the new fashion. Exhibited in the V&A museum. Close-up of the altered cuffs, it can still be detected how the large and wide cuff might have looked like originally.
Detailed shot of the metal thread embroidery on the cuff. Close-up of the embroidered buttons on the cuff.
